Lyric soprano Rita Moldão holds a Bachelor degree and Degree in Theatrical Singing from the Conservatório Superior de Música de Gaia in the class of Fernanda Correia. Rita continued her studies in Spain with Elisabete Matos, Francesco Pio Galasso, Francesca Roig, Alfio Grasso and in Italy with Enza Ferrari. She participated in master classes with Raina Kabaiwanska, Enza Ferrari, Charles Spencer, Hilde Zadek, Fernanda Correia, Elisabete Matos, Miguel Ortega and Francesca Roig.
Rita made her debut in 2003 as Susana in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro in a production of Gaia Music Festival (Portugal) with the Beiras Orchestra. One year later she was Le Feu, La Princese and Le Rossignol in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortileges. Rita has performed Die Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte and Bastienne in Bastian und Bastienne by Mozart, Lucy in Menotti’s The Telephone and Princesa in El gato con Botas by Montsalvatge.
Rita’s chamber music and sacred music repertoire includes Exsultate, jubilate, Coronation Mass and Missa brevis by Mozart, Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Orff’s Carmina Burana. Rita’s performance of Gounod’s Saint Cecilia Mass was broadcast over TVI Portuguese television. Rita premiered the Stabat Mater for wind quintet, mezzosoprano and soprano by Vasco Pereira and the Christmas Cantata for orchestra, chorus and soloist, by Rui Soares.
Rita has performed recitals, orchestral concerts, opera galas and sacred music programs in Portugal, Spain, Cabo Verde, St. Tomé and Prince, USA, France and Italy. She is currently the director of her Opera School, CPV Rita Moldão.
